Happy Birthday Aharon HaKohen

Happy Birthday Aharon HaKohen

Not long ago, Jews would chant “Halleluya” 123 times during Hallel.
Chazal say this corresponds to the 123 years of Aharon’s life.
The Rambam brings this l’halacha.

Why is Aharon given this Hallel distinction more than any other tzaddik?

Watch two of the world’s greatest tzaddikim enjoying each other’s company

Watch two of the world’s greatest tzaddikim enjoying each other’s company.

Rav Itche Mayer shlita here tells Rav Dov Kook shlita that the Baal Shem Tov said we don’t need fasting(“taaneisim”) and self mortification(“sigufim”) any more.
Rav Kook’s response seems to be very entertaining, but isn’t clear…

If you hear a goy bless a Jew, you say “Amen”

If you hear a goy bless a Jew, you say “Amen”.

Bilaam intended to curse.
Blessings came out instead.
Later, they reverted back to curses.

Had you heard the initial blessing, would you say “Amen”?

Haman Behind the Scenes

Haman Behind the Scenes

At the end of every parsha in the standard Chumash, you’ll find the amount of pesukim and a gematria siman.

There are 95 pesukim in Korach.
If you tuned into this week’s shiurim, you’ll understand.

What’s the significance of Daniel being gematria 95?

Accepting Loshon Hora is worse than saying it

Accepting Loshon Hora is worse than saying it.

The Meraglim said LH and instantly died a grisly death as their punishment.

Klal Yisroel was mekabel the LH and died peaceful deaths at the age of sixty years old.

Seems like the Meraglim are considered worse than those who accepted their LH.

Why?

Junior Kohanim

Junior Kohanim

Here in Israel, kids don’t do Birchas Kohanim before their Bar-Mitzva.
Not even a day before.
Gedolei olam maintain that is the correct practice worldlwide too.

Why is there no chinuch period for Birchas Kohanim?

Six Pack

Six Pack

The word צדיק appears exactly six times in the Chumash.
First appearing in the sixth perek of Beraishis.
Tzaddik (yesod) is the sixth of the seven lower sefiros.
Tzaddikim prefer the sixth aliyah.
Etc

Funny, the goyim associate multiple sixes with evil…

What connects tzaddik with six?
